IDL
From Waisman Brain Imaging Wiki
IDL is a direct competitor of MATLAB. It is a general-purpose mathematical analysis system and programming language. It is used in the labs primarily to power Terry Oakes' super-imaging-toolbox SPAMALIZE (http://brainimaging.waisman.wisc.edu/~oakes/spam/spam_frames.htm). IDL runs under Windows, OS X, Linux, and other UNIX-y platforms. IDL is produced by ITT Visual Information Solutions (http://www.ittvis.com/idl/).
